I am trying to decide whether to major in accounting or finance. I have heard that in some finance jobs, you can earn $100,000 + in your first year. Is this really true?
How much money would I be making if I was an accountant? |

yeah, salaries in finance can be pretty crazy....if you start out in investment banking at macquarie bank, you will start on about $80,000 and you will get a bonus on top, so you will most likely finish with around $100,00, maybe more. other places like morgan stanley and goldman sachs, you will start on about $90,000 and get a bonus on top - there you will def get more than $100,000 in the first year
but dont forget that there are a lot of hours involved as well. the pay may be 2 or 3 times that of the normal pay, but they effectively work 2 or 3 jobs! accountants are paid a bit less - i think starting grad salaries are around $40,000 - $45,000 it all depends on how hard you want to work i guess.... alternatively, you may want to try sticking to being a dj! ![]() |
